Partners Office of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
The Partners CPD Office opened in July 2012. The office supports educational programming such as live symposia that are aligned with our mission statement. The office also functions as a change agent fostering new models of education that align with the rapidly evolving dynamics of health care reform, new pedagogical methods, advances in information technology, and the principles of implementation and dissemination science. Within the Partners Healthcare System the PHS CPD Office works to improve care by collaborating with our Quality Review Boards, Health Care Redesign Teams, and Primary Care Council (e.g., Pateint Centered Medical Home) to coordinate our respective efforts. We leverage a wide array of clinical gap assessment techniques, education intervention formats, and evaluation metrics to optimize provider behavioral changes and improve patient care. PHS CPD provides Partners physicians and their teams with learning options closely linked to their day-to-day clinical responsibilities. The PHS CPD Office supports educational interventions for health care providers throughout the United States and around the globe, utilizing primary source subject matter experts from our many Harvard Medical School Affiliated Hospitals, other top tier academic medical centers, and experienced clinicians and researchers working in a range of community based, long-term care, and rehabilitative settings. It is a priority to foster interprofessional education (IPE), coordinating concomitant nursing and pharmacy accreditation, thereby promoting team cohesion to provide value based patient care. The PHS CPD Office works with collaborators to provide learning that improves healthcare.
